Mike

Senior Occupational Therapist

Mike is a Senior Occupational Therapist specialising in Psychosocial (Mental Health), Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Intellectual Disabilities. With a personable, enthusiastic and non-judgmental approach to his work, Mike enjoys helping participants address their mental health symptoms and motivation.

In particular, Mike enjoys working with those who have things they wish to address, which shows a willingness to make a change and work towards achieving their goals. Mike provides functional therapy to participants, which includes activities ‘the doing’ to create change. He has worked with many participants who are sick of feeling helpless, relying on their doctor or circumstances to make a change. Instead, Mike works with participants to start doing and seeing things differently and finds once they begin to see positive changes, this has a snowball effect. He finds it fulfilling to be a ‘doing therapist’ because this is something that can create lasting change for participants.

Prior to studying Occupational Therapy, Mike completed a Science degree and formal training in various talking therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). In addition, he has a passion for mental health, mindfulness & meditation, nutrition and gut & brain connections, and continued professional development. Such as an upcoming evidence-based Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) course Mike will be attending, a tool for helping people process traumatic experiences.

When not working, Mike enjoys his downtime bike riding, playing golf, snowboarding, water skiing, and generally being in nature.

Ashley

Occupational Therapist

Ashley is a passionate, caring, and relatable Mental Health Occupational Therapist who enjoys working with individuals across a diverse spectrum of Mental Health conditions, mild Intellectual Disabilities and high-functioning Autism.

Ash has a particular passion for working with individuals diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Recognising the prevalent stigma surrounding this condition, she is driven to break down these barriers and cultivate robust therapeutic connections. Within this space, Ash feels she can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by BPD.

Ash’s journey into Occupational Therapy began when she became a parent for the first time. It was an eye-opening experience for Ash to see how life changes can really affect one's ability to function and feel good. That experience sparked Ash’s interest in helping others navigate big life challenges.

As a Mental Health Occupational Therapist, one of the common challenges Ash encounters among her participants is a struggle with self-worth, motivation, and finding meaning or purpose in their daily lives. Many individuals Ash works with may feel disconnected from activities they once enjoyed or lack the confidence to pursue new interests.

Ash’s goal is to help them rediscover their sense of self-worth by identifying meaningful activities and goals that align with their values and aspirations. Through therapy sessions and practical interventions, Ash aims to reignite their motivation and enthusiasm for life by empowering them to engage in activities that bring joy, fulfilment, and a sense of purpose.

Ash holds a Diploma in Health Sciences, a Bachelor of Occupational Therapist with distinction and is pursuing a Master's in Mental Health. Additionally, Ash has undertaken specialised training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Home and Living Assessments, and Hoarding interventions and is currently becoming a certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Practitioner.

Outside work, Ash enjoys spending time with her family, staying active, her form of self-care, and indulging in her passion for op-shopping.

Gabe

Allied Health Assistant

Gabe is an experienced Allied Health Assistant who works with participants to establish everyday routines such as personal care, sleeping, exercise and cooking. Gabe’s approach to her work is to bring fun into the mundane, enjoying a good joke or sharing a laugh with participants.

Whilst the participants Gabe works with are all very unique, an issue that many experience is being isolated from their community. With Gabe’s approachability, compassionate listening and fun nature, she enjoys supporting participants and watching their confidence grow as they engage with others.

After working in customer service for many years Gabe made the transition into a supporting role, having completed Certificate III in Aged Care, Certificate III in Home and Community Care and Mental Health First Aid.

Outside of work, Gabe enjoys spending time with her adult children and grandchildren, gardening, cooking, craft and handyman work around the home.

Kristen

Allied Health Assistant

Kristen embodies genuine warmth, compassion, and empathy as an Allied Health Assistant. She finds fulfilment in encouraging participants to explore alternative perspectives, guiding them from a negative mindset towards a more positive outlook, building self-esteem and helping participants to recognise that each of us holds the potential to achieve anything we set our minds to.

Kristen’s journey from the tourism, hospitality, and retail industry to her current role was driven by a need for personal fulfilment, in which Kristen recognised her desire to contribute meaningfully to the lives of others.

Inspired by her life journey, Kristen realised the wealth of valuable insights and experiences she could draw on to positively influence and make a difference in the lives of the participants she supports.

As a proud mother of three, when not working, Kristen enjoys spending time with her family, weekend sports, exploring new places, gardening, and self-growth & development.
